KYOTO, Japan, December 12, 2023 -- Samco Inc. (TSE: 6387), a global leader in semiconductor equipment, has embarked on a partnership with Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST). This strategic move aims to expand overseas sales, a pivotal aspect of the company's mid-term management plan, and bolster the development of the European market. Samco will heighten its initiatives to cultivate and strengthen its foothold in the European market.
Commencing in late 2023, Samco will lend its best-selling RIE-10NR parallel plate RIE system and UV-2 tabletop ozone cleaner for research and development purposes to OST's Institute for Microtechnology and Photonics (IMP). This collaboration provides a gateway to advanced research and development with access to OST's expansive 600m² ISO 5-7 cleanroom facilities housing state-of-the-art equipment. This facility welcomes researchers from universities and companies across Europe.

The two systems, RIE-10NR and UV-2, were placed at samco-ucp ltd, Samco's European subsidiary in Liechtenstein, in April 2021. The IMP cleanroom at OST is a quick 10-minute drive from samco-ucp, offering comprehensive support for the equipment. It's fully equipped with pre- and post-etching process equipment; such as a resist coater, and measurement instruments including a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a film thickness meter for evaluating etching performance.
